The term handbag came about in the early 1900’s and referred mostly to the hand-held luggage of business men. These bags inspired a new line of hand bags that were designed for woman. By the 1920’s the idea of hand held bags became very popular and they became a huge fashion trend. Jewelers also got in on the act by decorating bags so that they were more astonishing and elaborate. Bags were typically chosen for every outfit and they matched accordingly. However, at the rise of the Great Depression many women could not afford to buy a bag for every outfit and it became acceptable to have one mainstream bag for everyday use.
In the 1940’s designer hand bags became popular. Many designers would hand craft their own bags making them more personal, and expensive, then manufactured bags. These types of bags are still widely popular today along with many others. There are types of bags for daily use, specific use or even appearance alone. Bags range in design and price and there are hundreds of different styles available.
Handbags are a necessity of everyday life for many woman and the many styles allow women to have many and choose which to use depending on the occasion. However, some women choose to only have one hand bag that carries an array of items they need daily. There is an unspoken rule of matching bags and shoes, which some woman abide by on a daily basis. Bags of the same style are usually available in many different colors and some woman choose to purchase the same bag in every color available.
Handbags carry every woman’s most important items, and often they seem endless in their ability to hold objects. Woman often carry their money and wallets in their bags along side their makeup and other hygiene necessities. It is not uncommon to find pens, pencils and paper in purses along with medicines and even. Most woman find it to be a useful storage place for things that may come in handy at some point in time so you would likely be able to locate gum, jewelry, sunglasses, and even tissues among the carnage. Most women would successfully be able to life from their purse for days with simply a change of clothes on the side.
However, because of the slew of items hand bags usually carry they are a common target for thieves. If someone obtains a woman bag it often times causes many concerns. Most woman tend to carry a lot of personal items which will allow the robber not only to gain access to her identity but other areas of her life as well. Often times with access to a woman’s purse an intruder can find out where she lives, where she works and even the names of many of her acquaintances. Some things a woman should never carry in her bag, for this exact reason, is her cell phone, social security card, garage door openers or house keys, and codes or passwords for any of her accounts. Though carrying these items in your purse is often convenient it can also be detrimental and it is in your best interests not to.
